May 2026: Stay Close To The Truth

The month opens with a revealing Scorpio Full Moon and ends with a revelation under the Blue Moon.

May carries us on a journey, beginning with the harsh exposure of the Scorpio Full Moon and ending with the Blue Moon in Sagittarius. Between these lunar spectacles is a month full of revelations and reckoning. We were invited to dive deep into the thoughts, feelings, and frustrations that are difficult to name right out of the gate. This chapter of our lives opened with the Martian Full Moon on May 1 — mirroring a time where we had little patience for the delay of truth. The Scorpio Full Moon was an invitation to begin the month on a clean slate — without the buried emotion or lingering resentment that hardens our presence and eats away at our peace. The opportunity to release what burdens us remains.

Slowing Down

Reaction is not the wise way forward, a lesson we remember now that Mercury has taken root in practical Taurus from May 2. Rational thought is favored, but not the kind that detaches us from our heart or creative pulse. Mercury may be discerning, but Taurus is sensory. In choosing our words deliberately, we discover the value of slowing the thought process to arrive at conclusions without the fire we’ve grown used to.

Collectively, we’re undergoing a subterranean shift from May 6, when Pluto — ruler of transformation, destruction, and resurgence — stations retrograde in futurist Aquarius. This is an annual occurrence, where Pluto retraces its path, and our questions or reflections turn inward: What has been dismantled or irreversibly changed within us as a result of the evolving world? Pluto retrograde is a long-running cycle, ending on October 16, but not before we register the unconscious ways we have participated in systems, hierarchies, and narratives we claim to oppose.

The Art of Exploration

Every month delivers the opportunity for renewal. In May, this breath of change whirls in under the Taurus New Moon. Ruled by Venus. Fused with Mercury, the messenger planet that is also within reach of Uranus. Structured intention is not the only reason to plant a seed. We’ve been taught that the entire way must be mapped before we begin, but when we lead with curiosity, we raise our chances of breaking free of the blueprint that confines us.

Every planet that crosses the threshold of Gemini must answer to destabilizing Uranus. On May 17, Mercury leads, followed by the Sun on May 20. We enter a chapter that is rich with breakthroughs, spontaneity, conversations, and detours that seem frivolous. Uranus is the disruptor; its innovative force is as uncomfortable as it is liberating.

The doors that are flung open or ideas that land may not seem divinely aligned, but questionable, random, and a rupture to the routine we already outlined. But Gemini season is not the month where we force everything to make sense; it’s when we remember the power stored in the questions we ask, not the answers we receive. New environments, fresh faces, and unexplored discussions are where this inquisition can truly come to life.

Mastering Continuity

Venus and Mars roam into a new archetype ahead of our Gemini season transition. Mars enters patient and enduring Taurus while cosmic-lover Venus lights up compassionate Cancer — both on May 18. The impulsive concentration of Aries energy breaks when we prioritize sustained efforts over sharp initiation. Our drive must reflect where we place value, while our hearts orient toward comfort and warmth.

Venus in Cancer teaches us that love should be nourishing, joy is worth protecting, and passion should be felt deeply, not sampled or explained. Continuity is now the theme of the month; we must devote ourselves to something, or someone, that deserves our everlasting presence. Yet the contradictory Gemini spark that is on the rise invites a balance between sustaining what is worthwhile and opening ourselves up to exploration in other areas.

There is a particular safety around maintaining a rigid front, but we can remain stagnant if we are inflexible in all areas. We must know why we are willing to put in the long, slow labour that growth requires, and when it’s not beneficial, divert our attention toward the lightness of rediscovery.

Revelation

Finally, the Full Moon in Sagittarius, ruled by abundant Jupiter, rises on May 31. This is a rarer blue moon — the second Full Moon within the calendar month spotlighting Sagittarian belief, valiance, and wisdom. This Full Moon, symbolizing endings, closure, and release, asks what we have understood about our experience and how this contrasts with the narratives inherited through our family and lineage.

The arc of our story may finally reveal itself, filling in the blanks and erasing the uncertainty that has rattled our minds. But this Full Moon does not promise resolution; it teaches us to appreciate the moment when we learn the purpose of the adventure, even when our destination is still unspecified. We must focus on why we are moving through the tides, what we are learning about ourselves through the process, and how our vision, faith, and confidence contract or expand throughout the process. That is the journey.
