Are They Still Your Soulmate If You Break Up?

What Are Soulmates?

Soulmates are two incarnated souls who share a unique and undeniably powerful connection. Their love and mutual respect have developed over the lifetimes they have spent together, facilitating each other's physical, mental, and spiritual growth. But of course, like all relationships, the union between soulmates doesn't last forever. Your soulmate can be your best friend, parent, child, colleague, or romantic partner, so you'll definitely have several over the course of your lifetime. You’ll know that someone is your soulmate if you have an unexplainable connection to one another and you go through life-changing experiences with them at your side that teach you a lot about yourself and push you to grow at profound levels. However, if you're more intuitive, you’ll immediately feel the magnetic connection with your soulmate upon your first meeting with them, even if you've never met in human form before.

Before your life began, you agreed with your soul mate to journey through life together and support each other in ways unique to your life path — think of it as a spiritual contract. You and your soulmates are here to embark on an intertwined life journey, encouraging each other to fulfill your highest potential and reach your soul purpose. There are an infinite number of ways that this agreement could play out. It could be your parent who teaches you about trust, your best friend who uplifts you when you doubt yourself, your child who has encouraged your new perspective on life, or the person who taught you a lot about healing after a breakup.

All Journeys Come To An End

When there’s no growth left to do in each other’s presence, you and your soulmate will have to inevitably part ways. Separations are always hard to navigate, especially when you’ve developed a connection with someone. According to past life regressionist Michelle Brock, “Soulmates reunite in order to experience love and divine union, and ultimately to fulfill both their individual and mutual life purpose.” Regardless of whether you think you’re ready, your shared purpose with your soulmate will reach the end of its journey when it’s destined to, putting you and your soulmate in a position to continue to grow without each other's physical presence. But energetically? The two of you are still spiritually connected as it's their soul that you share this union with, not their human selves.

But, not all separations are permanent; your child could grow up and move out, or you and your best friend could drift apart as you get older. This doesn't mean you're no longer soulmates, as you don't need to have a consistent physical presence in each other's lives to affirm this. Even breakups and divorces can't sever the spiritual connection you have with your soulmate outside of this lifetime. While your journey with your soulmate has to end on Earth at some point, the story you've shared together will always live on in your soul's memory.
